Here is another email ( this guy is very persistent) asking me to send him $640 via Western Union.

immediately.

So After telling the scam artist I did not have a passport and phone number.
this is his reply to me:

Dear Gary ,

Thank you for your email, What we can do right now is open an account
here in your name and them make a wire transfer from that account to
your person account in the state.

The account would be in your name where you are the responsible and a
total signatory to the account to make transfer from it .

Also we have to open a business current account immediately so that at
least by Tuesday you should have this funds in your position.

We would need about $670 current account in your name.

Online Security has never been so crucial 'till now a days. Raise your hand those who've never gotten a phishing email before? ... I thought so. I know I do. I get phishing emails all the time.

I enjoy blogging, so I though to myself, why not create a blog on phishing Alert. This way I do my part on Internet Security and help keep it save for those who may not even know the term phishing: here is a quick definition of phishing from Wikipedia:

In the field of computer security, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Communications purporting to be from popular social web sites (Youtube, Facebook, Myspace), auction sites (eBay), online banks (PayPal), or IT Administrators (Yahoo, ISPs, corporate) are commonly used to lure the unsuspecting. Phishing is typically carried out by e-mail or instant messaging,^[1] and it often directs users to enter details at a fake website whose URL and look and feel are almost identical to the legitimate one. Even when using SSL with strong cryptography for server authentication it is practically difficult to detect that the website is fake. Phishing is an example of social engineering techniques used to fool users ^[2], and exploits the poor usability of current web security technologies ^[3]. Attempts to deal with the growing number of reported phishing incidents include legislation, user training, public awareness, and technical security measures.

That is not all guys, there is also:
